Bankhead Horseback Riders Meeting

Here's a note from Shirley Watts, from the US Forest Service in Bankhead, who coordinates volunteer workers to help maintain the horse trails and facilities at Bankhead National Forest in Winston County, AL. If you enjoy riding the beautiful Bankhead Forest horse trails, please consider giving Shirley a call and volunteer to help!

And, plan to attend the February 28, 2008 Bankhead Horseback Riders Meeting, 6pm at the USFS district office in Double Springs!

If you haven't ridden the Bankhead horse trails, you're missing a treat! There are 25 miles of trails in 3 interlocking loops, routed through forested canyons and bluffs reminiscent of the Smokies, with scattered hemlock groves and stands of mountain laurel. Trails are very well marked and maintained, barefoot-friendly, and are designated for horse traffic only.
